Technical notes
Transcription streams from the meeting through a configurable speech-to-text provider. A fine-tuned transformer classifier flags factual claims in real time. Retrieval runs dense vector search with reranking over per-organization document indices, and a configurable language model classifies each claim's stance against the retrieved passages — supported, refuted, or not enough evidence — with the passage attached. Verdicts reach the Zoom side panel over a live connection.

VeriFact began in 2025 as an ambitious research and engineering project — five builders asking whether live conversation could be held to the standard of written evidence. The system it produced is now being developed into a product, and the research that got it here is public.

Does VeriFact work with Zoom?
Yes. VeriFact runs as a Zoom App and meeting bot. The host installs it from the Zoom App Marketplace, and once activated in a meeting it transcribes speech in real time and surfaces verdicts in the meeting's side panel.
How does the verification actually work?
VeriFact transcribes the meeting as it happens, flags factual statements with a claim-detection model, searches your organization's reference documents for relevant passages, and returns a verdict — supported, refuted, or not enough evidence — together with the passage it rests on, while the meeting is still happening.
What does VeriFact check claims against?
Your organization's own documents. Owners and admins upload reference material — PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, or plain text — and that library is the only source of truth. VeriFact never verifies against the open web, and every verdict cites the specific passage it was drawn from. A verdict reports what your approved material establishes — not universal truth.
How is this different from meeting recap tools?
Recap tools summarize what was said. VeriFact evaluates whether what was said is supported by your trusted documents — claim by claim, with citations, while the meeting is still happening. They're complementary: keep your recap, and let VeriFact tell you what holds up.
What happens to meeting audio and transcripts?
Audio is streamed to a speech-to-text service (Microsoft Azure Speech) for real-time transcription and is not retained after transcription completes. Transcripts, detected claims, and verdicts are stored privately for your organization, are never shared with other organizations, and are never used to train models.
